psychic vs Astrologer 2007 Oscar Picks

The 79th annual Academy Awards are only days away. Have you made your predictions? I normally don't turn to the stars for help in making my Oscar picks. But it's always fun to compare my picks with those of psychics and astrologers.

Dose.ca, an entertainment and celebrity news web site, interviewed clairvoyant Giovanna from downtown Toronto, Canada, about the 2007 Oscar winners. Giovanna takes note of vibrations picked up by her crystal ball to make her oscar picks. Giovanna sees a gold aura around Jennifer Hudson, her pick for Best Supporting Actress.

There may be an upset in the Best Supporting Actor catagory. Giovanna's crystal ball has strong vibrations, possibly denoting young energy. Favorite, Eddie Murphy, is NOT so young. She sees a lot of positive energy around Mark Wahlberg and The Departed along with Djimon Honsou for Blood Diamond.

Best Actress may be the disappointment of 2007 for me if Giovanna is correct. Giovanna sees a definate win for Meryl streep in Devil Wears Prada as Best Actress. "The energy around this award is older, more mature," says Giovanna.

Come on now! I have nothing against Meryl Streep. I think she's a great actress. But there are two great Dames on the list with older, more mature energy. What about them? Dame Judi who I love, love, love didn't get much exposure in my neighborhood. So I'm not crossing my fingers for another Oscar win. Helen Mirren , who I also love, took on the difficult task of portraying a living person. And not just any person. She made Elizabeth II, queen of England, come alive on the screen and made her seem more human than I have ever seen her portrayed by the the media since the death of Diana.

Giovanna sees much positive energy around Forest Whitaker, favored to win Best Actor.

And last, but not least, Best Picture. "Clint Eastwood and Letters from Iwo Jima is very close, it's very well-respected as a film, but it looks like Babel will take best picture and best director." says Giovanna.

Do the stars agree? Astrology Chick of the Astrology Chick Blog
makes her picks based onthe upcoming Solar Eclipse in Pisces on March 18/19, 2007. She says that we can expect a twisting and turning of fate and information around this time.

And her winners are as follows:

Best Actor: Forest Whitaker (15 July 1961)
Best Actress: Judi Dench (9 December 1934)
Best Supporting Actor: Jackie Earle Hayley (14 July 1961)
Best Supporting Actress: Jennifer Hudson (September 12, 1981)

Forget the Oscars for now! A pivotal episode of Grey's Anatomy is starting. Later. . . .

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

I experienced a first in my life today. It was my first visit with an acupuncturist.
While driving to the office, all I could think about was the anticipated pain of having needles inserted into my body. OUCH!
I was more than a tad bit apprehensive about the needles.

Before the needles were inserted the acupuncturist took a thorough history, checked my pulses, and looked my tongue. Then the needles . . . .
Well, I'm happy to report that the apprehension was for nothing. I hardly felt a thing when the acupuncture needles were inserted. The acupuncturist left them in my body for about 20 minutes while I rested on a table that resembled a massage table.

After the treatment was over I felt extremely relaxed and the pain I sought treatment for was much less intense. In fact, by the time I arrived at my home, the pain was gone.

So how does this acupuncture work? Western medicine doesn't really have scientific evidence that acupuncture works. But there are theories. One theory suggests that acupuncture stimulates the body to produce endorphins, which reduce pain. Other studies have found that other pain-relieving substances called opioids may be released into the body during acupuncture treatment. Another theory is that pain impulses are blocked from reaching the brain. But the needles are not directed towards nerves, so could they aid in blocking pain impulses?

Acupuncture helped to relieve my discomfort. For that I am thankful. I may not understand how acupuncture works, but I'm glad that I made the decision to try an alternative treatment to Western medicine.
