Looking for Metaphysical Health? Try The Soul Diet

Americans are not only becoming over saturated with trans fats and super sized meals, but also by an over saturation of media sound bytes, commercial hype, and excessive electronic communication on the Net and through text messaging.
Rabbi Yitzchak Goldman, speaker and outreach coordinator for the Seattle Kollel, an institute for the promotion of Jewish learning and experience, has written a book called The Soul Diet : Ten Steps Towards Metaphysical Health.
The Soul Diet is not just a how-to guide. It is a map that can lead you to discovery of purpose, joy and fulfillment.
If you are feeling overwhelmed by mental clutter and looking for a more meaningful life, maybe it is time to take a look at your Metaphysical Health and put yourself on a Soul Diet.
To get you motivated to read the book, Neeman House Publishers has announced an essay contest.
How it works:
1. Contestants go to souldiet.com where they download the free sample chapter of the book. They then locate two words from the chapter that are referenced by the following clues:
a. A form of written communication
b. A name of a day of the week
2. They then create a title for their essay from these words. Any theme is permitted, as long as these two words are used in the title.
3. The essay itself should be between 400 and 600 words.
4. They (snail) mail their entry to Neeman House Publishers, 5135 South Garden Street, Seattle, WA 98118– entries must be postmarked on or before June 15th, 2007, and should include contact information. No email entries will be accepted. There is no fee to enter.
The judges are looking for creativity and originality but not something completely over-the-top. “There has to be some refinement in the writing. Certainly it should be creative but it should also be subtle. And, of course, poor spelling and grammar will hardly win any favor.”
The winner will be announced by August 1st and notified by phone. “If we are overwhelmed by entries and our noses are flat on the pages, we may have to extend the deadline.” With the winner’s consent, the winning entry will be posted to the site.
Don't forget to let us know if the publisher picks your essay :-)
