Medicine for the Earth: How to Transform Personal and Environmental Toxins

Twice a month I try to make a trip to Costco and Trader Joes, my two favorite places to stock up on the household necceseties and the relievers of chocolate cravings. Lately I have found that getting in and out of the Costco parking lot to be stress producing. Two stoplights away from the Costco parking lot is this guy next to me in the right turn only lane. The light turns green. He apparently realizes he doesn't want to be in the right turn only lane and speeds forward making a left turn as I am driving straight ahead in a lane where you can either turn left or drive straight. I'm feeling negative energy and more a than a little stressed right now.

Soon I make it to the Costco parking lot which can sometimes be a driving nightmare itself. Drivers in a hurry making erratic unexpected movements trying to get to the open spot first or drivers who bypass all the cars in the exit lane, speeding out through the entry lane are an accident waiting to happen.

I tell myself that I need to let go of the negative thoughts and stress from my negative driving experience or my whole day is going to be clouded with negative energy.

Along comes this book that is not so new, but new to me, Medicine for the Earth: How to Transform Personal and Environmental Toxins by Sandra Ingerman,
licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Mental Health Counselor and former Educational Director of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.

Book Description
From cross-cultural legends recounting shamanic cures to the biblical accounts of the parting of the Red Sea and Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes, many spiritual traditions are rich in stories about seemingly inexplicable transformations of the natural world. The ancient healing art of transmutation, in which toxic substances are transformed into "safe" substances, is mentioned in all the world's great spiritual traditions, including Hinduism and Taoism. And while many have tapped this body of work to heal the self, it has yet to be used to heal our environment.

For twenty years, Sandra Ingerman has studied alternative ways to reverse environmental pollution. In this book, Ingerman takes us on a remarkable journey through the history of transmutation, teaching us how we can use this forgotten technique to change ourselves and our environment. She provides us with creative visualizations, ceremonies, rituals, and chants derived from ancient healing practices that produce miraculous, scientifically proven results. In one dramatic illustration of what can be accomplished when consciousness and awareness fuel our actions, Ingerman describes her own success in transforming the nature of chemically polluted water.

"Imagine yourself sitting in a quiet place in nature, being still and silent inside yourself.

Breathe in the power of the universe.

Breathe out the power of the universe.

Breathe in the love of the divine.

Breathe in the love of the divine.

Breathe in the light of the Absolute.

Breathe out the light of the Absolute.

As you inspire the power, love, and light of the universe, you exhale

sharing love and light with all living beings. As you breathe, experience yourself

expanding into the external light of all life. You are not a seperate entity, you are
one with all that is.

Miracles For The Earth

Before I make my next trip to Costco, I will stop by Trader Joes and make sure I have a supply of chocolate handy. And I will practice my breathing meditations so that encountering crazy drivers doesn't contribute to personal toxins in my mind.
